Members:

Ms. DiSilva advised the committee that Dr. Seoudi is leaving Massachusetts and will therefore not be a part of this committee any more.

State Trauma Meeting:

Ms. Cushman attended the State Trauma meeting held September 19th in Waltham. Currently the proposed Massachusetts State Trauma Plan is waiting to be written into regulatory language, from there it will need to go out to public hearings. During the meeting there were presentations on the resources several different states used to fund their trauma care.  The State Trauma committee has agreed to communicate via emails and look at rollout issues and funding for implementation once the Trauma Plan is in regulation. For now they have decided to meet quarterly.  Mr. Hopewell suggested getting together a list of problems and concerns of trauma issues here in western Mass and communicating them to our Legislators and Representatives. He recommended having a legislative breakfast here in western Mass as a forum for expressing our concerns.

Action: Ms. Josefski to bring a current list of legislators/representatives to the November meeting.

Strategic Goals:

There were no more changes made to the September version of the document. It was stressed that performance improvement (PI) is a critical component of the education portion of the trauma plan. ACS has a template for PI that hospitals follow: look for the problem; fix the problem and then move on. A key for any PI program is to have measurable outcomes.

Region One Trauma Triage:

The remainder of the meeting was spent discussing the current region one trauma triage plan.  Changes were recommended. See Trauma Triage Plan Draft1 attached.

Agenda for next meeting:

1.      Review Legislator and Representative List for possible Legislative Breakfast

2.      Continue to work on Region One Trauma Triage Plan

3.      Review Regional MCI Plan development
